Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 (February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in this part of the island of Montreal that is known as"the West Island. In reality, the West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is a huge area that extends from Lachine until the west. It is often cited as the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time at the island was infrequent. Brugel had a childhood in Courtice close to Oshawa located in Ontario. Her first ambition was to become an actor, however she literally outgrew the dancing partners. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6'1 inch. When I grew out of male companions, I began to stop. Some former dancers switch to acting, and in Brugel's situation, it was a suggestion from an instructor in drama at high school who pushed her in the right direction. It was her teacher who advised her to audition for the role of Anne in the school's annual production. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the school's annual show. It was her turn to be awarded an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program, where she graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor in Fine Arts. Over the past 20 years her career has seen her appear in over 60 films and television productions. Her most famous role was the one of Rita (shown in the video below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor on the show in the season 1 and appeared only occasionally.
